Forbes Magazine has ranked Bangkok of Thailand third on the list of most popular cities in the world to visit. Forbes and Master Card have made a list of their global destination cities index for 2012. London and Paris are at the top of the list. According to the magazine, the Temple of Dawn on the Chao Phraya River is among the world’s most famous destinations and the symbol of the city. It said the temple attracted around 12.2 million travelers last year. The Thai capital is also among the top destinations in the Asia-Pacific region, with the highest tourist number and spending. Vietnam's two major cities have recorded some of the fastest growing foreign tourist numbers in the world since 2009. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have recorded some of the fastest growing foreign tourist numbers in the world since 2009, according to a recent survey by MasterCard. The country’s largest cities were among 20 names that have been climbing quickly up the global tourism map. Hanoi ranked 13th on the global list with foreign arrivals growing on average 11.64 percent since 2009. Ho Chi Minh City ranked 18th with 9.22 percent annual growth. Japan’s Osaka topped the list with visitors growing 24.15 percent a year thanks to arrivals from China and South Korea. Chengdu in China came second followed by Abu Dhabi in the UAE. Ho Chi Minh City has been ranked 36th on a list of the 100 leading cities in the world in terms of international tourist arrivals. The list, compiled by global business intelligence firm Euromonitor International, also placed Hanoi in 52nd and the northern city of Ha Long in 56th.
