The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has terminated eight terraced hydropower stations and 463 small hydro-electricity plants. The MoIT also decided not to consider 213 other potential positions for hydro-electricity development in the next three years and review the implementation of Resolution 62/2013/QH13 on strengthening management of the construction planning, investment, operation and exploitation of hydro-power plants. So far, Viet Nam has housed 306 hydro-electricity plants with a total capacity of 15,473.3 MW. Other 193 projects have been under construction. Up to 245 projects with an estimated capacity of 3,006 MW have been on research and investment stage. Nearly 60 small-size hydro-power plants have been reviewed. Regarding terraced hydropower stations in big flows, 61 projects have been put into operation, generating 13,101 MW.
