(VOVworld)- After 30 years of renewal, Vietnam has become a middle income country with a dynamic market economy and is fully integrating into the world, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said at a session on the future of production in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday. At the session, part of the 47th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, Mr. Phuc said that Vietnam can no longer count on dwindling natural resources and cheap labor to sustain rapid growth in the era of the fourth industrial revolution. Vietnam attaches importance to human resources development
(VOVworld) – Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan on Sunday attended the conference of the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union. Nhan stressed the importance of human resources development in all areas. He said the number of trained Vietnamese workers increased from 6 million in 2000 to more than 20 million in 2012 and this will be an important precondition for Vietnam to attract more foreign investment. Nhan said the Party and State of Vietnam pay special attention to human resources development and science and technology with a strategy to develop the country’s work force from 2011 until 2020 and a national program on high-technology development until 2020. Gov’t encourages human resource development plan
Skilled human resources will be a crucial advantage in raising the country’s competitiveness during the course of integration, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan said. Nhan chaired a teleconference to guide government ministries, sectors and localities to build their own human resource development plans in the 2011-2015 period and orientations toward 2020. “It is an urgent need to work out a national human resource development plan with a 10-year vision, as it is the first move to implement the national human development strategy to 2020 and serves as the foundation for each sector and locality to formulate its own development plan annually and in a five-year term,” the Deputy PM said. Vietnamese PM Nguyen Tan Dung attended and delivered a speech at the event which drew the attendance of around 100 delegates from 21 APEC member economies. PM Dung said that economic linkages among APEC members, which now accounts for 40% of the world’s population and 54% of the global GDP, have been increasingly vibrant, bringing back numerous opportunities and benefits to each of the members as well as the region and the world. ASEAN to discuss post-crisis solutions for human resource development
Preparatory meetings will be held earlier on May 18-21 to finalize documents for the above-mentioned events. Ten ASEAN Labor Ministers to ALMM-21, themed "Human resource development for economic recovery and growth," will discuss prospect of cooperation in human resource management, skills development and training, labor market information development, and labor management. ALMM-21 takes place in the context of the economic recovery in global, regional and national scales, thus it is a chance for ASEAN member countries to share lessons on how to maintain and develop human resources. Việt Nam will call on the ASEAN countries to issue a joint statement on human resource development right in 2010 as the quality of the resource is an urgent mission and a requirement for the realization of the ASEAN Culture-Society Community by 2015. VN attends APEC Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting
The Vietnamese delegation led by Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân attended the two-day meeting, at which Ms. Ngân made a speech about social security systems in response to with the global recession. The Minister said, to minimize wrongdoings, it is necessary to build up a synchronous and flexible system of socio-economic policies, in which the State should play a central role in managing and implementing social security policies while encouraging social partners' participation.
