The 75-year-old style icon is no stranger to challenging fashion formats - turning a 2015 London show into an anti-austerity and climate change march -- and deemed her latest move a response to the unisex reality of fashion. "My very first fashion shows were always men and women. It’s particularly unisex now because this time you’ve got lots of men in dresses. "You’ve seen women for a hundred years in trousers but it’s all switched around equally now," Westwood said, as her new autumn-winter 2017 collection hit the catwalk at the Seymour Leisure Centre in London’s … [Read more...] about London Fashion Week shake up tradition with mixed catwalks

"My design is all about the Parisian chic woman who is travelling all over the world," Chalhoub said after the show late Monday at a luxurious Dubai hotel. This "woman is very feminine and glamorous," said the blonde designer, wearing a long black-and-blue skirt with a black top. "This collection was mostly inspired by an exhibition I saw in Paris from Andy Warhol and as I’m very fond of him I wanted to take back his drawings and his paintings and to make out of them some fabrics and … [Read more...] about Arab Fashion Week closes with Warhol-inspired designs

Model Karlie Kloss displays the fashion of Marc Jacobs during New York Fashion Week. — AFP Photo Viet Nam News NEW YORK — Marc Jacobs, the creme de la creme of American designers, brought New York Fashion Week to a glittering finale on Thursday, delivering a must-see show starring multi-colored dreadlocks and towering platform boots. In keeping with the artistic, theatrical look of his clothes, Jacobs took over the Hammerstein Ballroom, a former opera house, that gave A-list guests Whoopi Goldberg and Courtney Love, as well as the assembled press, a stunning view. The stage was bathed in white, then soft pink from hundreds of naked light bulbs suspended from the ceiling, as some of the world’s most famous models -- including Karlie Kloss, Gigi and Bella Hadid, and Kendall Jenner -- sashayed past. The middle of the stage appeared dotted with oil-slick type pools of grease, perhaps reminiscent of an early 1990s rave warehouse, for the last catwalk show before the … [Read more...] about Marc Jacobs sparkles as NY Fashion Week wraps up

VietNamNet Bridge – Thanks to TV shows like Viet Nam’s Next Top Model as well as social media and film stars, the image of the local “fashionista” has emerged as a powerful role model. Thu Anh reports. Young Vietnamese fashion professionals, often known in the media as “fashionistas”, are out to show the world that local design can proudly stand along the best from Hong Kong, Tokyo, Milan or Paris. “We were the first people who were called fashionistas in Viet Nam. But the truth is, we simply look at fashion as an art and our bodies as a canvas,” says Le Hoang Anh Khoa (also known as Kelbin Lei), one of the best-known fashion industry pros in HCM City. “The sense of style we develop along the way is really the ‘masterpiece’," he says. "We’re devoted to fashionable clothing, particularly unique or high fashion. But we don’t believe in trends. Real fashionistas never follow trends. We’re … [Read more...] about Slaves to fashion?
