Thursday, January 07, 2016 - 15:37:44 (VOVworld) – In 2015, the world saw a record number of people fleeing their countries because of political instability, war, and poverty. Emergency meetings were convened and solutions were put forward, but all have been in vain. Leaders of EU countries have yet to offer a solution to the migrant crisis. (photo: Bernadett Szabo/Reuters) Migrants to the EU exceeded 1 million people in 2015, creating severe socio-economic problems and security threats as terrorists can mingle with the refugees. The UN estimates that one of every 122 peoplein the world is forced to leave his or her country of origin. An unprecedented wave of migrants has entered Europe which has led to the worst migration crisis since World War II. Unstable global securities market Current Affairs
Tuesday, January 12, 2016 - 16:33:19 (VOVworld) – Instabilities in the Chinese securities market and escalating tension in the Middle East have affected the global stock market. Chinese stocks slumped 7 percent within 30 minutes last week triggering the second emergency market closure during the first week of 2016. The Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchange had to stop their trading. Although the People’s Bank of China spent 20 billion USD to support the Yuan, China’s stock market continued its downfall, creating 2 automatic circuit breakers. It was the first time that China’s stock market applied the circuit breaker mechanism. China’s stock market plunge was attributed to the People’s Bank of China’s decision to reduce the exchange rate between the Yuan and the US dollar to its lowest level since April, 2011. It was also the biggest devaluation of the Yuan since a similar move that shocked the world market in August, 2015. Signs of … [Read more...] about Unstable global securities market Current Affairs
EU considers halting Schengen visa free travel Current Affairs
Sunday, December 06, 2015 - 16:34:20 (VOVworld) – The migrant crisis in the EU has had serious consequences on some member countries. The EU has considered a halt to the Schengen visa free travel agreement in two years to tighten security. The EU’s plan to halt the Schengen agreement shows that its security is under great pressure from the migration of about 1.2 million people to the EU this year. The EU has threatened Greece with indefinite suspension from the Schengen passport-free travel zone unless it overhauls its response to the migration crisis, as frustration mounted over Athens’ reluctance to accept outside support. The suspension can be applied not only to Greece but some other Schengen countries. Investigations show that at least 2 of the terrorists associated with the Paris attacks on November 13 entered the EU from Leros island of Greece as migrants. Some EU countries made unofficial proposals to narrow the Schengen Area, citing reasons that migrants … [Read more...] about EU considers halting Schengen visa free travel Current Affairs

Foreign ministry concerned about Middle East violence (19-07-2006) HA NOI — Viet Nam was extremely worried about the increasing violence in the Middle East, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Dung said yesterday. It had caused many civilian losses, he said. The spokesman said: "Viet Nam calls on Israel to stop escalating its military action, the relevant parties to show restraint and all to begin an effective programme to save peace." Only then, would they create the conditions for stability and to settle their disputes by negotiation. The foreign ministry spokesman was answering questions put by correspondents based in Ha Noi. Vietnamese goods penetrate Middle East and North African markets
(VOVworld) – In recent years, the Middle East and North African markets have emerged as potential destinations for Vietnamese exporters. Although two-way trade turnover has increased remarkably, the rise isn’t on par with the advantages of each side. How to maximize the available strengths for mutual development tops the concerns of both Vietnamese policy makers, managers, and entrepreneurs. The Middle East and North Africa are home to more than 520 million people. Many countries in the region have great potential in economic development, abundant foreign currency reserves, and diverse needs of goods which match Vietnam’s export structure. The recent good political relations have boosted bilateral development in economics, trade, and investment. Last year, two-way trade turnover reached 7.4 billion USD, up 900% compared to a decade ago, of which, Vietnam’s trade with some partners surpassed 1 billion USD per year. However, participants at a recent seminar held … [Read more...] about Vietnamese goods penetrate Middle East and North African markets
