Woman jailed in Hanoi for procuring sex workers for South Korean men
Nguyen Thi Chang, 27, was apprehended last October after officers caught two women having sex with Korean men in a hotel. The four of them told the police that Chang was the pimp. Chang told the police she was working at Bomul Seoum Karaoke in Nam Tu Liem District. Kim Hack Bong, 45, a South Korean man, has been running this place since last January, she said. Chang was in charge of managing women employees and guest reception at the place. The employees were divided into two groups, one willing to have sex with customers and the other not willing. Those who consented could do so after working hours. Kim told the police he only kept track of guest reception preparation and money management. He was not aware Chang was offering sexual services or had any role in it, he said. Accordingly, life span in the country averages 76.6 years old, which is higher than the world’s average. However, the quality of our older generation is facing some problems. According to the World Health Organization in Vietnam, each old person in Vietnam deals with three types of diseases. Vietnam becomes 15th most populous nation
At the online conference (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Home to more than 96 million people, Vietnam has become the world’s 15th most populous nation and the third in Southeast Asia, the Central Population and Housing Census Steering Committee revealed at the online conference in Hanoi on July 11. Preliminary results of the 2019 census show that the country’s population expanded by 10.4 million as compared to a decade ago, and the average growth rate was 1.14 percent per year while the figure was 1.18 percent for 1999-2009. Vietnam has an average population density of 290 people per square kilometre, with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh being the most densely populated cities. Nearly 2,400 people reside in one square kilometre in the capital city, and the number in the southern hub is 4,363. The census also found the country experienced a rapid pace of urbanisation in the past 10 years, scaling up the urban population to 33 million people, or 34.4 percent of the total. Prudential and JA Vietnam implement Cha-Ching Curriculum across Hanoi
The signing ceremony was held in Hanoi under the witness of the Ministry of Education and Training Based on the globally-recognised and award-winning financial literacy programme Cha-Ching Money Smart Kids, the partnership with JA Vietnam is expected to benefit up to 7,336 children from 31 primary schools in Hanoi in the 2019-2020 academic year and will expand nationwide in the coming years. Building on the success of the Cha-Ching, Prudence Foundation has partnered with Junior Achievement Asia-Pacific in 2016 to develop an enhanced Cha-Ching Curriculum that supports teachers in instilling money-smart skills in students’ daily life. Since then, the curriculum has been actively implemented in public primary schools for Grade 4 students by teachers in eight markets: the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
