During an online meeting with voters in Can Tho, Chinh said the largest economic center in Mekong Delta is an important hub for intra-regional and international transportation; therefore, it is necessary to build a railway connecting it with the southern metropolis and the country's southernmost province Ca Mau. Legislators in Soc Trang Province passed a resolution on Friday to allocate VND1 trillion of the provincial budget to clear a site for Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang Expressway. Soc Trang Chairman Tran Van Lau said the fund is a "significant challenge" but for the general development of Mekong Delta, the province promises to fulfill the commitment. On the same day, An Giang legislators agreed on spending VND1.38 trillion of the provincial budget to clear a site for the expressway’s section in the province. Hau Giang authorities on Thursday decided to use VND823 billion for site clearance while the Can Tho City administration said its legislative unit will hold a meeting later this month to pass a resolution on extracting VND1.1 trillion of the city’s budget to clear a site for the expressway here. Two die in jet ski collision with barge on Saigon River
Two local men riding a jet ski at high speed died after their vessel crashed into a barge on the Saigon River in Ho Chi Minh City earlier this week. Police in Thu Duc City, under Ho Chi Minh City, have been investigating the cause of the death of 32-year-old Trinh Hoai L. and Nguyen Huu T., 48, who lost their lives when their jet ski hit the side of a barge on the Saigon River on Friday afternoon. The hard collision caused both men to fall into the river when their jet ski was running at high speed from the Rach Chiec Bridge to the Saigon Bridge, according to initial police reports. Some people on the barge threw life jackets toward the men while a fisherman nearby was rushing his motorboat to the scene for rescue but both men had died. The fisherman then used ropes to fix the jet ski and the bodies of the two victims to a point along the riverbank and reported the case to local police. (Photo: VNA) Hanoi – Tan Cang Que Vo in the northern province of Bac Ninh has been added to the list of inland container depots (ICDs) in Vietnam, which now reaches 10 in total, according to a newly-released decision by the Ministry of Transport. The decision announces the list of dry ports in Vietnam, replacing the 2020 decision which does not include Tan Cang Que Vo ICD. The other nine ICDs comprise Hai Linh, Km3+4 Mong Cai, Tan Can Hai Phong, Dinh Vu, Hoang Thanh, Long Bien, Tan Cang Ha Nam, Phuc Loc, and Tan Cang.
