Firms put on Mekong Delta tours in flooding seasonDao Loan HCMC – Travel companies are offering short tours to the Mekong Delta in the flooding season this year, with a two-day trip costing only VND1.8 million (US$79). These weekend tours will take in An Giang and Dong Thap provinces where guests can experience the daily life of local residents through boating and picking caltrops and common sesban, and tasting local specialties. Such tour programs last until the end of October. Last year, tourism firms could not arrange those tours as the flooding season came later than expected. Nguyen Phu Phuc, director of the Tourism Service Center of An Giang Tourism JSC, said these tour programs could woo a lot of tourists. Travel companies in HCMC such as Saigontourist, Fiditour and Young Generation are selling these tours. New air services bring more tourists to Mekong Delta
VietNamNet Bridge – New air services linking the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho and other parts of the nation have helped send visitors to the region surging, heard a media briefing in Can Tho last week. A new air route has been recently launched to connect Can Tho City in the Mekong Delta and Nha Trang City on the central coast in a bid to promote tourism. Truong Van Vinh, director of Vietravel’s branch in the Mekong Delta region, said passengers have fully booked Can Tho-Nha Trang flights during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday (Tet), which begins on February 8.
