HCMC is home to 114 public and private hospitals, 318 health stations, 196 general clinics and nearly 6,000 private specialized clinics. However, the handbook, in its first edition, introduces only 14 hospitals that have voluntarily registered to offer medical tourism services and have met the required standards for service prices, facilities and services for foreigners. Odontology experts believe that potential clients in dental tourism are mostly Viet Kieu (overseas Vietnamese) who have demand for dental care when visiting relatives in Vietnam. The experts said many Viet Kieu see dentists during their stay because the service is cheap, while it is in no way worse than services they receive in foreign countries. Foreigners also choose Vietnam as dental tourism destination points, but the number remains modest.
