BALI — The 19th ASEAN Summit concluded on Saturday with the region's leaders reiterating their commitment to building a strong Southeast Asian Community. Host Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said in his closing speech the results of the 19th ASEAN Summit had underscored the closeness of the ASEAN region. He said the region was taking important steps to building an ASEAN Community of solidarity and strength by 2015. Yudhoyono stressed that the ASEAN community's importance in the world had grown considerably in recent years. During the summit in Indonesia, this year's chair, ASEAN leaders stressed their determination to implement on schedule the process to build the ASEAN Community. At a meeting of the central government on Thursday, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung instructed agencies concerned to touch base with the Olympic Committee of Asia and involved partners on the country's decision to pull plug on the quadrennial 2019 Asian Games (Asiad).
