Vietnam's consumer electronics devices market, defined as the addressable computing devices, mobile handsets and video, audio and gaming products, is projected to be worth around US$4.3bn in 2010, according to a new report by market research firm Business Monitor International (BMI). This is expected to increase to US$6.6bn by 2014, driven by growing affordability of key products. In the final quarter of 2009, festive season sales of popular electronics products surged due to aggressive promotions and price cutting, with prices of many goods cut by up to 50%. The electronics devices market is forecast to increase at an overall compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11% through 2014. The vast and relatively underpenetrated rural market presents a significant growth opportunity as the government rolls out measures to … [Read more...] about Consumer electronics market driven by growing affordability

It took six years for Nvidia to develop the chips to power the 3-D navigation system display that launched on the 2011 Audi A8, the brand’s top-of-the-line sedan, compared with three to four years to develop a new chip for gaming applications. Along the way, Nvidia engineers learned the hard way they could not just pop a chip designed for a laptop … [Read more...] about Nvidia wants to leap from video games to self-driving cars
