The Hanoitimes - Vietnamese manufacturers are currently benefiting from sustained growth in demand for their goods across international markets. This strengthening GDP has also been spurred by a $21.6 billion 2013 foreign direct investment (FDI), which increased at a rate of 54.5% year-on-year. In order to meet and capitalise on this increasing demand it is vital that Vietnamese manufacturers find ways to increase production and delivery efficiencies. Companies ignore importance of IT
HCM CITY — Many local companies have neglected to use IT consultant services to help achieve their business objectives, according to a recent survey conducted by the Institute of Information Technology for Business (ITB). ITB's survey on applying IT at small – and medium-sized enterprises said that only 14 per cent out of 1,060 polled companies used IT consulting services, while as many as 52 per cent said they did not have demand for such services. Industry experts said that local IT companies preferred taking part in bidding and deploying IT projects rather than offering IT consulting services. Most IT firms said income from consulting services was low. In addition, the Government has not issued any specific regulations on IT consulting. Environment pollution costs 3 percent of GDP Environmental experts have repeatedly warned of Vietnam’s vulnerability to repercussions from pollution and environmental degradation. The ever-expanding gravity of the danger directly threatens national socio-economic achievements, despite strict regulatory efforts. An October 11 seminar on environment protection in Hanoi heard that economic losses in industrial production and service provision, environmental pollution added the equivalent of 3 percent of GDP to the country’s 2010 healthcare bill.
