The Ministry of Information and Communications has published a set of stamps on happiness and warmness in Spring to welcome the lunar New Year. Designed by painter Nguyen Du of the Vietnam Post, the set includes two stamps measuring 37 x 37 millimetres. The first design, priced at VND3,000, portrays a rooster. The second, priced at VND10,500, portrays a hen and a chicken. Flood-tide to rise over New Year’s holiday
HCM CITY — The high-tide line is expected to reach alert level 2 status in the days just before and after the New Year’s holiday, said HCM City’s Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control. In the pink for the Lunar New Year (31-01-2007) A set of commemorative stamps to mark the 2007 Lunar New Year or Tet Dinh Hoi (the Year of the Pig), has been issued by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications. Depicted on the stamps are images of a family of well-fed pigs gathering happily together in the warmth of spring, symbolising prosperity. The stamps measure 43x32mm and come in denominations of VND800 and VND8,000. The Ministry has also issued first-day covers bearing designs related to the theme of the stamps and two 150x100mm cards featuring an enlarged colour reproduction of the commemorative stamps. The artwork is in the style of traditional Dong Ho paintings and printed on brushed diep paper made from ground seashells. Buffaloes on the new year stamps – 2009
The Hanoi Times - A new set of stamp for collection will be issued this spring with the image of the buffalo, the mascot for this year. The set by painter Nguyen Du (from Vietnam Stamp Company) was selected for production. The set consists of images made by colour papers, strong, active, but also very gentle. The set includes 2 sizes: square, 37 x 37 (mm) and rectangular: 105 x 75 (mm), with several specimens. The square type has one with a father buffalo relaxing, with a big cowlick resembling a flower, and there’s another one with a mother buffalo and its calf standing. Putting the two together, we have a picture of a cosy buffalo family The rectangular block type has 2 specimens of buffaloes inside the block, with 6 rings on the two sides, each represent one mascot of each year all in pink color.
