Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Le Minh Ngan told the gathering that marine tourism brings 70 percent of revenue to the country’s tourism industry; sea freight transport reached 85.1 million tonnes; oil and gas production reached 18.43 million tonnes (crude oil production was 10.97 million tonnes). USAID cooperates with MPI to ready enterprises for the future
On June 29 in Dong Nai, USAID and the Enterprises Development Agency under the MPI organised the workshop themed “Improving packaging technology and design to enhance competitiveness and efficiency”. At the workshop, businesses were updated on information about the latest design technology. Besides this, they received support to design suitable packages with their products to increase their value. One day earlier in Ho Chi Minh City, the two parties also organised a training workshop on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and initial solutions for businesses. Rasmus Nedergaard, an expert on sustainable strategic planning, introduced proactive solutions to reduce emissions for businesses. Over 18,000 volunteers take part in exam assistance program
At the launching ceremony of the exam assistance program, "Tiep suc mua thi" This year’s campaign attracted more than 18,000 students who are divided into 16 groups offering assistance to candidates at 158 exam sites, such as providing candidates with information related to the exam, resolving emergencies, ensuring security and helping regulate traffic near testing locations during the national high school examination period from July 6-9, Director of the Student Assistance Center in HCMC, Le Xuan Dung said. In mid-June, Van Anh and her family of four took a summer holiday in Da Nang, famous as the country’s most livable city, but they felt that the trip was made boring because they had nothing to do in the evening. "Besides swimming, eating out and visiting Ba Na Hills, I realized that Da Nang has very few services for tourists, especially in the evening. After eating, we come back to the hotel and there are no more night-time activities," she said. Thu Huong, another tourist from Hanoi, also spent a night in Da Nang last month and watched a fire breathing act on the iconic Dragon Bridge at night. She said she didn’t know what else she could do. "From 9:30 p.m. streets in Da Nang started emptying and looking deserted. There were a few night markets and backpacker streets with poor services," Huong recalled. Storm Chaba poses no more danger to Vietnam’s northeast as it makes landfall
It made landfall along the coast of Maoming City in China's Guangdong Province at around 3 p.m. Saturday, Chinese newspapers reported. At 4 p.m. it lay centered around 320 kilometers to the east of Quang Ninh Province, home to Ha Long Bay, with a maximum wind speed of 117 kph, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. It will move northwest at a speed of 10-15 kph and is expected to weak into a tropical depression by Sunday morning with winds decreasing to 61 kph. Vietnam’s northeastern region should expect rains of 40-80 mm, and more than 100 mm in some places, between Saturday evening and Sunday. A day earlier weather experts had expected the region to be hit by torrential downpours of up to 150-350 mm a day. Rainfall of 180 mm a day is considered heavy. International Day of Yoga marked in Ba Ria – Vung Tau
Addressing the event, Vice Director of the provincial Department of Culture and Sports Nguyen Thi Anh Hong said that the International Day of Yoga is a chance for yogis to meet, exchange experience and spread Yoga spirit to the community, but also an opportunity for the Vietnamese and Indian people to foster cultural exchanges, thus enhancing the sound relations between the two countries as well as Ba Ria - Vung Tau and India in particular. The event was held by PepsiCo Vietnam , the Centre of Education and Development (CED), and the Vietnam Chamber of Industry and Commerce (VCCI) - Da Nang branch. It was part of the “Increase awareness in plastic waste management” project funded by PepsiCo Foundation through Give2Asia and implemented by CED in collaboration with partners in Vietnam from January 2020 to December 2022.
