Two jazz nights featuring famed Russian guitarist Dmitry Maloletov and renowned Vietnamese saxophonist Tran Manh Tuan will take place in Ho Chi Minh City, with the first event scheduled for this weekend. As part of a series to celebrate the upcoming 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Russia (1950-2020), the events aim to show the unity of Russians and Vietnamese through music as well as promote cultural exchanges between the two peoples. The shows will take place at Sax n Art Jazz Club in District 1 on Sunday evening, and at Van Lang University’s Campus 3 in Binh Thanh District on December 12, respectively, said the Russian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnamese-Australian singer Phương Dung will perform in Sài Gòn Bolero, a concert featuring 40 veteran and young singers and dozens of dancers and musicians on June 8 in HCM City. Ho Chi Minh Trail starting point accredited as special national relic
The starting point of the Ho Chi Minh Trail – Km Zero – in the central province of Nghe An’s Tan Ky district (Photo: baonghean.vn) The recognition was announced by the provincial People’s Committee Office on May 13. Tan Ky People’s Committee was tasked with protecting and promoting the site, which is expected to become an attraction of local tourism. The wartime legendary trail starts from Nghe An and runs through Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and ends in Binh Phuoc. It passes through areas of dense jungles, and served as a key artery supplying weapons, goods, food, military equipment and personnel from the North to the South during the country’s resistance war against the US.
