NA deputies, investors seek ‘level playing field’ (07-11-2005) HA NOI — Most of the more than 100 opinions expressed during debate of the draft Investment Law in the National Assembly at the weekend touched on the need of a level playing field for all investors in Viet Nam. And while the deputies agreed that this draft – a composite of the Domestic Investment Promotion Law and the Foreign Investment Law – was more liberal than the existing law, they argued that it still contained many contentious provisions and duplicated other laws. Investment incentives also occupied much of their attention. Many agreed that the inducement should be printed on business licences so that investors could use it as a guide when seeking incentives. (27-02-2007) HA NOI — The VN Index, which measures the value of the HCM City Securities Trading Centre, yesterday rose 3.73 per cent to close at a record high of 1,129.02 points, despite warnings by analysts of the market overheating. Yesterday was the exchange’s busiest trading session since reopening after the week-long Tet holiday, and was the first time in its six-year history that all stocks recorded gains. Many – in particular blue chips like the Corporation for Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT) and PetroVietnam Drilling and Service Affiliates (PVD) – nearly hit their price ceilings.
