HCM City wishes to see more investment activities from Austrian firms: official

At the event (Source: VNA) HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City wants to see more investment promotion activities from Austrian enterprises to tap on the sides’ cooperation potential, said Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan while receiving a business delegation from Austria on May 16. Taking into account Austrian firms’ opinions, the city official stated that their concerns are also what the city is working to address and their recommended solutions should soon be studied for real-life implementation. Highlighting challenges facing the city in waste and wastewater treatment, Hoan hoped that Austria n enterprises with interest in the field to offer consultations and transfer technologies to the city, and invest in building treatment plans here. The picture was painted on the wall of the Cuban Consulate General in HCM City by a group of students from the HCM City University of Fine Arts. Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen said that the work, the first of its kind in Vietnam, reflects the friendship relations between the two countries. Hanoi earmarks US$1 billion for Ring road No.4 project

Total investment capital for Ring road No.4, slated for completion by 2027, is estimated at VND85.8 trillion (US$3.73 billion). The Hanoi People’s Council today [May 20] ratified a resolution on allocating VND23.5 trillion (US$1 billion) for the Ring road No.4 project. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh concludes U.S. trip

Blue economy model gathering pace

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) last week again warned that the ocean is faced with increasing threats and multiple risks posed by climate change, natural disasters, environmental pollution, over-exploitation of natural resources, and unsustainable economic activities. “Global warming and marine litter are threatening marine resources, including widespread bleaching of coral reefs. Globally, an estimated 8-20 million tonnes of plastic enter the ocean every year. In Vietnam, around 2,000 tonnes of plastic waste leaks from the country into the ocean every day. It is estimated that there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2050,” said Caitlin Wiesen, resident representative in Vietnam of the UNDP.
