Due to the overdue interest on this bond, the credit institution sold 20 million HNG stocks on January 7 and another 5.4 million on January 10 on HAGL’s securities account to recover the debt. However, HAGL did not report in advance the trade of these stocks in accordance with regulations. Action plan to be implemented to reduce congestion at Cat Lai port
Trucks arrive at Cat Lai port (Photo: SGGP) Director of the USAID-funded Trade Facilitation Project Claudio Dordi revealed that according to a survey of the current state of Cat Lai port operations conducted by USAID, four main difficulties have been threatening the stability and port performance including traffic congestion around the port, overload of administrative procedures, incomplete information technology infrastructure. Additionally, he said the city’s canal system is not capable of receiving a container ship capacity of over 3,000 TEUs. Many businesses also said that the clearance time at Cat Lai port has improved, but compared to other ports in the region, it takes 6.37 days to clear the shipment. As international trade recovers from the impacts of Covid-19, addressing congestion at Cat Lai Port has become a priority. However, this is difficult to improve because the volume of containers passing through Cat Lai port is about 6 million TEU (in 20-foot containers) each … [Read more...] about Action plan to be implemented to reduce congestion at Cat Lai port

Japfa policy change irks chicken farmers
Japfa policy change irks chicken farmers-illustration photo, source: freepik At the end of April, some affiliated farms in Buon Ma Thuot city in Dak Lak province were quietly closed, and a lot of equipment for livestock has now become useless. Some of them have even had to sell their homes or suffer billions of VND in losses with chicken breeding. Hoang Thi Cuc, a farmer in Hoa Thang ward, poured in over $108,000 into lodging and began to work with Japfa in 2019 to feed 15,000 chickens, but he has now abandoned the farm. “At the time, Japfa said that we could recoup capital within the next three years. So we decided to borrow money and rent land to build the farm. However, after the first year and gaining some profit, we have suffered losses since then. To cut the losses, we stopped receiving chickens from the company for the last six months and have decided to abandon the farm,” said Cuc. Cuc said the farm was losing $8,700 and land rent for every farrow of chicken. While … [Read more...] about Japfa policy change irks chicken farmers
PepsiCo Foundation funds expansion of She Feeds the World programme
The MoU was signed between the Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture in Vietnam, the National Agriculture Extension, and CARE, paving the way forward for the rollout of the Farming for Change – She Feeds the World project in Vietnam (SFtW Vietnam). The project aims to ensure small-scale farmers in Vietnam’s Central Highlands, particularly women and ethnic minorities, have more secure and resilient livelihoods for food, nutrition, and water security. The Central Highlands in Vietnam are a major agricultural hub, producing key food crops. However, the agricultural system in the region faces serious environmental, economic, and societal issues, including unsustainable agricultural practices and weak market linkage. The overuse of pesticides, fertilisers, and water resources are lowering the productivity of the land which is further exacerbated when farmers sell their products to local collectors who have limited bargaining power, earning them lower incomes. This particularly … [Read more...] about PepsiCo Foundation funds expansion of She Feeds the World programme
