Vietnam U23s defeated their Malaysian rivals 1-0 in extra time in Thursday’s semifinal match, shooting up the Golden Stars into the men’s football final against Thailand, scheduled for Sunday night in Hanoi. Parking service operators, street vendors encroach on sidewalks near hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City
The sidewalks encircling several hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City have been turned into parking lots for motorbikes and trading areas for street vendors, leaving little to no space for pedestrians. Although the municipal Department of Transport requested that the People’s Committees of Districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, and 11, where many large hospitals are located, crack down on the sidewalk encroachment, the issue has remained rampant as of Wednesday. Some sidewalk occupiers even put up barriers to stop pedestrians from walking through their parking lots, which can be seen on the sidewalks of Nguyen Chi Thanh and Thuan Kieu Streets near Cho Ray Hospital and along Ly Thuong Kiet Street near Hung Vuong Hospital, both in District 5. Dengue fever in Ho Chi Minh City prompts red alerts
Children with dengue fever are being treated in a hospital As of noon on May 19, the city recorded a total of 8,248 cases of dengue fever, an increase of 33.3 percent over the same period last year. Noticeably, the number of severe cases reached 175 cases, an increase of 500 percent over the same period. The number of deaths was 6 people, up 300 percent. HCMC launches activities in celebration of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday
The activities aim to celebrate the President Ho Chi Minh’s 132nd birthday (May 19, 1890) and mark 111 years since he left the country to find a way to salvage the nation (June 5, 1911).
