PM demands strengthening air pollution control as air quality worsens
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has demanded subordinate levels strengthen air pollution control as air quality in many localities, particularly Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City has worsened. Particularly, the Government chief tasked ministries and localities to immediately review and evaluate the implementation of regulations on dust and emission control right in the first half of 2021. He asked for promptly enhancing air quality monitoring capacity to ensure that air will be monitored nationwide by 2025. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment was tasked to review and report to the Prime Minister a roadmap for application of national emission standards for road motor vehicles in the fourth quarter this year. The main causes to air pollution in Vietnam come from exhaust of transport means, construction activities, industrial production, and low rate of trees in urban areas. Thai Nguyen hi-tech agricultural zone set up
Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has signed Decision No 70/QD-TTg on the establishment and issuance of operational regulations of the Thai Nguyen high-tech agricultural zone. The zone will be set up in Tien Phong commune, Pho Yen town, Thai Nguyen province, spanning 154.36 ha. It is to host research activities and pilot hi-tech production models in farming, forestry, aquaculture, and farm produce preservation and processing, among others. The zone will also specialise in training and technology transfer serving the agricultural sector of the province, the region and Vietnam as a whole. The provincial People’s Committee has been asked to steer the construction, assessment, and approval of planning for the zone in keeping with regulations. The province has previously set up large-scale agricultural production zones of high economic value. Ha Nam targets 17,500 new jobs in 2021
At a recent employment session held by the Department and the Ha Nam Employment Service Centre, 47 businesses recruited 6,600 workers. According to Director of the Ha Nam Employment Service Centre Nguyen Quang Tuan, no enterprise in the province went bankrupt due to COVID-19. The province also sees increasing recruitment demand because a large number of new enterprises being established while existing enterprises expand production. The department has advised the provincial People’s Committee to synchronously and effectively implement policies, programmes, and schemes to create jobs and support young people in finding employment and starting a business, especially disadvantaged workers. Attention will also be paid to promoting career guidance as well as improving the quality of human resources training.
