Reporters pin high hopes on Vietnam’s future

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam has conditions and potential to become a developed country in the future as it boasts rich resources and abundant labour, high education lever, geographical advantages connecting Asia and the world, efficient government and patriotic citizens. The remark was made by JaeHo Jeong, Hanoi Bureau Chief of the Korea Times, on January 26 when he was present at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi to cover the opening ceremony of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), the most important political event of Vietnam. “I think Vietnam will have a brighter future than the present,” he said, adding “its role will increase amid the rapidly changing global situation”. Vietnam to further join int’l efforts against climate change: PM

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam will continue its active participation in international efforts to combat climate change, so as to transform climate-induced “challenges” into “opportunities” for the sustainable development for all, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc told the Climate Adaptation Summit (CAS) 2021. In his remarks delivered to the international summit, held online on January 25 and 26, the PM said Vietnam is one of the countries worst affected by climate change. He affirmed that in response, apart from restructuring its economy towards a low-carbon model and reducing its greenhouse gas emissions, Vietnam pledges to strengthen the resilience and adaptation of communities, economic stakeholders and the ecosystem. “We will step up disaster risk reduction and mitigation of climate-related damage. Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has recorded significant achievements in managing national foreign debts over the past three decades, said an official at a workshop held in Hanoi on January 26. Vo Huu Hien, Vice General Director of the Ministry of Finance’s Department of Debt Management and External Finance, made the statement, adding that the effective management has transformed Vietnam from a poor and heavily indebted country into a one receiving international organisations’ recognition as having a controlled external debt level and being excluded from the group of countries with a debt burden. According to data from the ministry, the public sector’s proportion in the structure of the national external debt decreased from 73.6 percent in 2010 to 63.4 percent in 2015 and 43.7 percent in 2020. The Government’s foreign loans are mainly official development assistance and concessional loans.
