At a working session with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, the official further said authorities of the southern hub also hope the US business community will take an active part in investing in and providing technical support for the city. The information was released by Tran Van Tri, head of the municipal Population – Family Planning Department, at a meeting on July 10 to respond to the World Population Day (July 11). According to Tri, since the beginning of 2018, the city’s population sector has gained positive achievements, with the infant mortality rate at 0.77 percent, and over 87 percent of pregnant women and 82 percent of new-borns taking screening tests. Philippine city forbids use of gadgets while walking in public places

The Anti-Distracted Walking Ordinance was passed on June 24 to ensure the safety of pedestrians, said Baguio City Councilor Francis Robert Ortega. The use of gadgets while walking in public spaces is a great danger since it leads to unwanted tragedies, Ortega said. The penalties for violating the ordinance will be a reprimand or verbal warning for a first offense, 1,000 pesos (roughly 19.55 USD) fine for a second offense, 2,000 pesos (roughly 39 USD) fine plus up to 10 days of community service for a third offense, and 2,500 pesos (roughly 48.88 USD) plus 11 to 30 days of community service for a fourth offense. Over 1,500 stuck on flooded Phu Quoc island as airlines cancel service
Prompted by floods triggered by heavy rains for days, the Phu Quoc International Airport was closed temporarily from 9 a.m. on Friday. The airport, which connects Vietnam's largest island with major cities Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and several Asian destinations, saw its runway submerged by 0.3 meters on Friday. "The airport could not receive arriving flights. The weather conditions did not ensure safety so we had to suspend all flight services," said Nguyen Minh Dong, director of the airport. Dong said right after the airport resumed operation at 8:30 p.m., five flights took off, carrying around 1,000 passengers out of the island off Kien Giang Province. However, a number of flights scheduled for Friday evening and night were canceled, leaving 1,560 passengers stuck on the island. (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Four days after it was launched the national public service portal had by 4:00pm of December 12 been accessed by 2.3 million people, receiving 581 requests for supply of low- and middle-voltage power, 693 for driving licence swapping and international driving licence issuing, and 51 on re-issuing of health insurance cards. According to Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung, data of the portal will continue to be enriched with the addition of more public services such as customs and tax declarations. The portal, which was launched on December 9, has provided eight services.
