Air pollution is a mixture of small particles and gases – some we can see and some we can’t. Vietnam’s major cities are gravely affected by poor air quality; indeed, Hanoi was ranked second worst for air quality in the Southeast Asian region in 2018 by Air Visual. Situation in Vietnam When we talk about air pollution, we are referring to: particulate matter 10 micrometers or less in diameter (PM10), PM2.5, black carbon, nitrogen oxides (NO and NO2), sulphur dioxide (SO2), ozone (O3), and volatile organic carbons (VOCs). Infectious diseases spread as cold weather hits Vietnam
An increase in cold-related illnesses such as high fever, diarrhea, and flu amongst children have been recorded in big hospitals in Hanoi including Bach Mai, National Children Hospital, Thanh Nhan, Saint Paul. Deputy Director of the National Children Hospital Tran Minh Dien said that more than 30 kids catching flu are being treated in the hospital. Most of them have suffered complications of pneumonia. Worse, ten measles children have not been vaccinated and some whooping cough children are under three months old in the hospital. Saint Paul Hospital admitted more than 300 children a day, a surge of 10 percent compared to November while the Lung Hospital receives 300 adult inpatients daily, an increase of 1.5 times compared to previous month. Worryingly, 250,000 dengue fever cases have been recorded in 12 months, a 300 percent increase compared to last year. The Museum of Art reopens in Hong Kong with installations by Goppion
Goppion engineered, manufactured and installed the conservation display cases for the Chinese Antiquities Gallery and Fine Art GalleryHONG KONG, CHINA - Media OutReach - 13 December 2019 - Goppion, the Italian company renowned for protecting icons of world cultural heritage such as the Mona Lisa, the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom, and many Leonardo da Vinci manuscripts and drawings, played a major role in the newly renovated Hong Kong Museum of Art. In October 2018, Goppion was tasked with engineering, manufacturing and installing the permanent display cases for two galleries in the museum. One is the "Chinese Antiquities Gallery," called such because it hosts objects ranging from the Neolithic to the 20th century, including ceramics and other decorative art pieces, such as objects in glass, engraved bamboo, wood, and ivory and rhino horns, as well as costumes, fabrics, and furniture. Orphans in Hanoi face gloomy future
Two children in Hanoi who are facing a gloomy future after their parents’ death are in dire need of support. Nguyen Thuy Linh, 19, and her brother Nguyen Trung Hieu, 12, are living at a small house at Quynh Mai Ward, Hai Ba Trung District. Their mother died some years ago because of leukemia. Meanwhile, their father who had mental problems, diabetes and tuberculosis also died recently. The children besides their father's photo Nguyen Thi Hoa, the family’s neigbour, said that Linh’s mother still decided to get married to his father although she knew that he had been suffering from mental diseases since he was small. Luckily, both Linh and his brother were born in good health, which was a motivation for the couple. Gradually, the father’s disease improved. However, in 2015, Linh’s mother was diagnosed with leukemia which killed her just a short time after that.
