Experts say such tight restrictions should have been imposed long ago to avoid the current mess and chaos on many roads. Cars and motorbikes crowded Pho Quang Street in Tan Binh District on Tuesday morning last week, dragging themselves sluggishly towards the downtown area. The road, an entrance to the Tan Son Nhat Airport, is just two kilometers long and only eight meters wide. Yet there are 15 skyscrapers lining it, with tens of thousands of apartments, hotels and offices. The largest project on the street is an apartment complex with four blocks and 16 floors, hosting around 500 apartments. It has been open for about five years. There are other complexes with 8-10 floors and a hospital, so the street is always crowded. It gets hellish during rush hours. HCMC People’s Committee asks to remove difficulties, accelerate disbursement

HCMC proposes new tuition fee from academic year 2022-2023
The HCMC Department of Education and Training announces a draft plan on new tuition fees that are expected to be applied from the academic year 2022-2023 in the city. Under the plan, the new monthly education costs will increase from VND60,000 to VND300,000 a student of Thu Duc City and districts across the city; and from VND30,000 to VND100,000 a student in rural residential areas of Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Nha Be and Can Gio. Primary schools are free of charge. The above fee is the basis to support pupils of private primary schools or private students who are eligible for the policy of tuition fee exemption. HCMC has currently spent 20 percent of the State budget on education and training. Saigon metro depot readies after receiving all 17 trains
The last among 17 trains of the Ho Chi Minh City’s Metro Line No. 1 was put on track in Long Binh Depot in Thu Duc City on May 9. The last two trains for the metro line arrived in HCMC from Japan last week. All 17 trains of the line are made in Japan. The first arrived in October, 2020. Each comprises three cars to carry 930 passengers at most. Each car is 21 meters long, four meters high, and weighs 37 tons. Nguyen Quoc Hien, deputy head of the HCMC Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR), the project investor, said the arrival of the last two trains means the project has entered a new phase and is ready for testing.
