Japanese investors need more information about VN’s property market

Sumio Hara, Chairman and General Director of the So Kikaku Sekkei construction design company, told the Vietnam News Agency that to Japanese people, Vietnam is a leading investment destination in Southeast Asia. However, he hasn’t known much about the property market in Vietnam.  If more detailed information about the market is provided like through this workshop, the Vietnamese market will possibly become the top destination for Japanese property investors, he stressed. Singapore’s Temasek mull stakes in Hong Kong’s airlines

Last week, Temasek, the majority shareholder in Singapore Airlines Ltd, and HNA, an aviation-to-financial services conglomerate, agreed to explore business partnerships in aviation and logistics. HNA is looking to raise funds for the Hong Kong airlines and Temasek is a potential investor. A stake in Hong Kong airlines is expected to help Temasek get an aviation foothold closer to mainland China. Corrine Png, the chief executive of Crucial Perspective, a transport research firm, estimated that Hong Kong Airlines would be valued at about 1.1 billion USD and HK Express at some 300 million USD. Vietnam, Turkey urged to expand economic cooperation

Vietnamese and Turkish officials take a photo together (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - Turkish Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Faruk Özlü has suggested Vietnam and his country enhance economic, trade and technology cooperation. Özlü made the suggestion during a recent meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Van Trung and deputy head of the National Assembly's Law Committee Hoang Thanh Tung, who were on a working visit to Turkey to learn about building free economic zones and concentrated industrial parks (IPs). The Turkish official spent time introducing his Vietnamese guests to Turkey’s mechanisms for managing more than 300 concentrated IPs, coordination among the state, localities and enterprises in the work, and preferential policies for domestic and foreign firms to invest in IPs. KPMG No.1 in Source Global Research 2019 Financial Services report

KPMG improved remarkably on its weaker points since 2018 to take the pole position in Source Global Research’s 2019 Financial Services report A rise of eight points compared with its 2018 performance in the survey placed KPMG squarely at the top of the table and marked the biggest uptick in client opinion of individual firms in the period. Every year, Source Global Research asks senior end-users of consulting firms to rate the quality of consulting firms' work in 13 different financial services specialisms. KPMG came first in business strategy, financial management, risk management, regulatory-driven work, and robotics, as well as working with legacy technologies and managing non-digital transformations. Investors step up M&A movements

The remainder of 2019 will be key for Vietnam to avail of longer-term investment possibilities, Photo: Le Toan Warrick Cleine, chairman and CEO of KPMG Vietnam, told VIR that they have seen tremendous ­confidence in Vietnam from large ­investors, especially from the likes of Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. The trend has expanded from the ­acquisition of 100 per cent or control of Vietnamese companies, such as the Sabeco deal from Thailand, to minority or strategic investments in large Vietnamese companies. These are often institutional investors, and their decisions reflect confidence in Vietnam’s overall macroeconomic and geopolitical state, and the management teams and business models of the specific companies. “Provided the global economy remains strong and Vietnam ­maintains its reform orientation, there is no reason investors will not continue to have the confidence to invest in Vietnam,” Cleine stressed.
