The projects are entitled After the Silent Tiger: Shooting the Indigenous Sound in Central Highlands; Dust and Metal; A Flatpack Festival; Legends as Souls; Liberation Radio and Vườn Lài Wonderland. They have been selected from 30 nominations throughout the whole country. Yangzhou school strives to keep Chinese traditional arts alive
Puppetries are on display at the puppetry art class at Yangzhou School of Culture and Arts in Jiangsu Province, China. — VNS Photo Khánh Linh Khánh Linh Yan Yu is 71 years old, but she doesn’t want to retire. A day in Yu’s life is tightly scheduled. She starts lessons on traditional rod puppetry at 6.30am sharp in the morning, training young people puppetry skills and techniques. Under her guidance, the students, mostly aged between 16 and 19, practice the art until they are able to master the skills. She only finishes classes at 8.30pm. Yu has been working as a teacher of rod puppetry – a form of traditional art in China – at the School of Culture and Arts in Jiangsu Province’s Yangzhou City for years. Vietnamese pianist wins prize in Italian music contest
Popular Vietnamese pianist Luu Hong Quang (centre) wins the second prize at the Oleggio International Piano Competition (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - Popular Vietnamese pianist Luu Hong Quang won the second prize at the Oleggio International Piano Competition held in Italy from May 3-6. “I am very happy to share a good news about my European trip this time. I was awarded the second prize in the Oleggio International Piano Competition in Italy last night! I am very grateful to my family, teachers and friends for all their sincere support. Thank you very much!” Quang wrote on his Facebook page. The first edition of the competition attracted 80 contestants aged 18-37. After the qualifying round based on the contestants’ video clips, the jury chose 30 contestants for the final round, who were winners of various international contests, from Russia, Italy, France, Ukraine, Japan, China and Vietnam. After the show, the collections remain on display at the LCDF, 98 Tô Ngọc Vân Street, Hà Nội, for one week. The highlight of the event is Lương Thị Ngọc Quỳnh with the collection Admonito, reflecting traffic safety.
