The red-shanked douc langur is handed over to the Cuc Phuong national park (Photo: VNA) Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – A red-shanked douc langur (pygathrix nemaeus) was handed over to the Cuc Phuong national park in the northern province of Ninh Binh by forest rangers in Phu Loc district, the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on August 14. The male stray langur, weighing 6.5kg, was caught in Lang Co town of Phu Loc district by local people on August 13. The primate is listed in the IIB group as endangered in the Red Book of Vietnam. Tetra Pak, in collaboration with its partners, kicks off School Recycling program to involve 800 primary schools and kindergartens in 16 districts of Hanoi The Company also aims to expand this initiative to Da Nang and Binh Duong in 2020. School Recycling is the first-ever, large-scale program to segregate, collect and recycle used cartons in Hanoi under partnership with Hanoi’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment and Hanoi’s Department of Education and Training as well as Tetra Pak’s partners including Dong Tien Paper Factory, Lagom, NHC and Vinamilk. More than 197,000ha were planted in the province, 60 percent of them with high-quality rice varieties, according to its Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. The fact that leaders and officers of the HCM City Education and Training Department receive remuneration for compiling textbooks has caused a stir among the public. In a document from the Ministry of Education and Trianing (MOET) to the local press, the ministry affirmed that in order to ensure fairness, publicity and transparency in choosing textbooks, the ministry has drafted a circular (which has been published on its website for public opinions) which stipulates that those who compile and inspect textbooks will not be allowed to become members of councils which have the right to choose textbooks for use. The fact that the Vietnam Education Publishing House and the HCM City Education and Training Department are joining hands to compile textbooks is the responsibility of involved parties and they need to explain this to MOET.
