Hoa Binh’s Fine Art Exhibition 2014 Opening: Fri 26 Sep 2014, 10 am Exhibition: 26 Sep – 25 Oct 2014 The Muong’s Cultural Museum You are invited to Hoa Binh’s Fine Art Exhibition 2014, a collaboration between Muong’s Cultural Museum and Hoa Binh Fine Arts Association at 202 Tay Tien Street, Hoa Binh city. A group of 23 artists will bring to the event 33 artworks from lacquer, oil, silk, acrylic, ceramics and sculpture, most of which were featured in 2014 Fine Art Exhibition of Region III (Tay Bac – Viet Bac, Vietnam) in Bac Can province. Especially, artist Tran Thi Thu has won first prize in Region III contest and is one of 4 artists to receive Vietnam Fine Arts Association award for her painting “Me” (selected from 8 national applicants). First Monsoon Music Festival attracts foreign artists Large numbers of talented artists and musicians from around the world will gather at Hanoi’s former Thang Long Imperial Citadel from October 2-4 for Monsoon Music Festival 2014. Famous artists of Vietnam such as singers Thanh Lam and Ha Tran, jazz guitarist French-Vietnamese Nguyen Le, and foreign artists including percussionist Rhani Krija from Morocco, keyboard player Martin Hedin from Sweden and others from Denmark, the UK, France, Belgium, the Republic of Korea and Japan will take part in the festival. The event, the first of its kind to take place in the capital city, is one of major cultural activities to celebrate Hanoi’s 60th Liberation Day (October 10). UK Film Week features Scottish movies to locals Kieu Giang By Kieu Giang in HCMC The musical “Sunshine on Leith” will open the British Council’s 2014 UK Film Week featuring Scottish films from September 22-28 in Hanoi and HCMC. This year’s UK Film Week celebrates Scotland as the host country of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, which took place in Glasgow in early August. Local audiences have a chance to see some popular movies from Scotland representing a mixture of genres to celebrate the richness of Scottish culture. All films will be shown in CGV Cineplex in Hanoi and HCMC. Free tickets will be distributed at the British Council in the two cities from September 15. Especially, British Council in Vietnam also invites Paul Welsh to deliver two workshops on film pitching, targeting potential film makers in Vietnam.
