Visitors at Cu Chi Tunnels in Ho Chi Minh City (Photo: VNA) HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City welcomed 17 million visitors in the first six months of this year, including 4.2 million foreigners, up 10.1 percent year on year, according to the municipal Department of Tourism. The city earned 73 trillion VND (3.13 billion USD) from tourism in the first half of this year, a rise of 16.6 percent over the same period last year. In order to attract more tourists, in the last six months of this year, the department will continue implementing its plan to build new and diverse products. It will coordinate with outlying Cu Chi district to develop agricultural tourism in association with the national target programme to build new-style rural areas. The Quintessence of Tonkin attracts visitors to Hanoi
“The Quintessence of Tonkin”, the first real life performance in Vietnam - takes place three times per week at Baara Land, an entertainment complex in Sai Son Commune, Quoc Oai District, over 20km west of Hanoi. With the participation of more than 150 farmers and 100 dancers, the performance tells vivid stories about the culture and everyday life of people in the Red River Delta. The main stage of the performance is a 4,300sq.m lake at the foot of Thay Mountain.
