The Fulbright Vietnamese Student Program is a competitive, merit-based scholarship program that enables successful candidates to pursue a master’s degree program beginning in the 2018-19 academic year, according to a press release from the embassy on Wednesday. The program supports master’s study in most social sciences and humanities fields, including, but not limited to, American studies, communications, education, economics, business, law, international relations, journalism, library science, public administration, social work, public health, public policy, TESOL, gender and women studies, and more. Vietnam pins high hopes on trade with U.S. Dinh Hiep HCMC – Despite imminent changes in economic relations due to uncertainties surrounding the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement, Vietnamese enterprises are still confident in stronger trade ties with the U.S., said experts at a conference in HCMC on December 20. Pham Phu Ngoc Trai, chairman of Global Integration Business Consultants (GIBC), said Vietnamese businesses hope the U.S. will remain the biggest importer of Vietnam in the next 20 years. Two-way trade between Vietnam and the U.S. increased five times from US$8.81 billion in 2006 to US$45 billion last year. Vietnam wants U.S. to be No.1 investor HANOI – Vietnam expects the U.S. to become the No.1 foreign investor here in the country, said Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh. Minh told the press in Hanoi on Tuesday after his talks with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that two-way trade snowballed from several million dollars in 1995 to US$22 billion last year. Given the huge potential for more growth in bilateral trade and investment ties, a trade mission comprising 20 U.S. firms was accompanying Clinton in her one-day visit to Vietnam. BEIJING, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- China and the United States will exchange 30 undergraduate students annually for three weeks of study, tour and cultural activities starting next year, according to China's Ministry of Education on Wednesday. The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on the summer exchange program for undergraduates on Tuesday. It aimed at strengthening mutual trust and understanding between young people. The memorandum was based on the "Agreement on Educational Exchange and Cooperation" renewed by the two governments in 2006 and a result of the U.S.-China Education Dialogue held in April. The program is also an important activity to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-American diplomatic ties, and the 30th anniversary of the implementation of the Chinese-American student exchanges and the launch of the Fulbright study program. The U.S. Mission in Vietnam is calling for nominations of outstanding candidates to participate in the 2017 Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program. This program brings Vietnamese teachers to the United States for a semester and provides them with opportunities to study topics that are unique or particularly strong within the U.S. school system, the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi said in a press release on September 6. Teachers will also be able to directly observe and learn about the U.S. education system.
