Lack of irradiator impedes dragon fruit export to U.S. By Van Nam - The Saigon Times Daily HCMC - The exportation of dragon fruit to the U.S. has been ground to a halt as Son Son, the country's only irradiator of the fruit, does not provide irradiation services for exporters, most of them in the central province of Binh Thuan. But the Association of Dragon Fruit Producers in Binh Thuan, the nation's key dragon fruit growing area, said Son Son had repeatedly declined to serve exporters from the province, thus throwing exporters and farmers in the province into a difficult position.
