Foreign students who run away for illegal work in South Korea will be put on a 'black list' and hardly get a chance to come back to South Korea. They will also be wanted by police nationwide and could be fined US$5,000 and face imprisonment of up to six months. On December 10, South Korea police officers were searching for 164 Vietnamese students enrolled at Incheon National University’s Korean Language School after they had not shown up in class for 15 days, Korean media reported. The students are among 1,900 Vietnamese students on a one-year Korean language training program at the university. “To come to Korea to study short-term language courses, many students have to pay millions of won to brokers in Vietnam," a spokesperson of Incheon National University was quoted by Yonhap as saying. ACV suffers bitter losses from Viethaus project
The Viethaus project was mired down in difficulties from the start The Government Office has collected comments from the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, and Planning and Investment on how to deal with the Viethaus project based in Berlin (Germany) of Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV). Earlier, the Ministry of Transport (MoT), which is ACV’s management authority, in a report to Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, has floated the idea of terminating the project, based on ACV proposal. Accordingly, in case the German government does not offer long-term space leasing at a favourable rate and long-term visa to its staff, ACV will ask its member unit Southern Airports Services JSC (Sasco) to return the space in the third quarter of this year when the space leasing contract expires and stop the investment project according to Vietnamese and German laws. Vietnam legislature approves 21 new gov’t members
Twenty-one positions, including three deputy prime ministers, were voted in for a five-year term on Saturday, the last working day for Vietnam’s legislature to finish its personnel selection for the new government. The new 27-member government is led by newly elected Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, consisting of five heads of ministries who keep their posts and 21 officials appointed on Saturday morning. According to the 2013 Constitution of Vietnam, the prime minister has the right to nominate government positions to the lawmaking National Assembly. The premier can only sign directives for the new officials to take office once the nominees are approved by the house.
