A Vietnam Airlines flight from Hanoi to Tokyo, Japan had to make a U-turn over Chinese airspace to return to the Vietnamese capital city for medical treatment for a Japanese child passenger with a nosebleed on Monday. Just 35 minutes following its departure from Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi at 7:35 am on Monday, flight VN384 operated by flag carrier Vietnam Airlines turned around as blood kept coming out of a ten-year-old Japanese child’s nose despite first aid given by flight attendants. The plane, a Boeing 787, was within the airspace of Nanning City in Guangxi Province, China at that time. The young passenger, in seat 24A, was traveling with a sister and their mother. The U-turn decision was made in favor of the child’s health as the cabin crew evaluated that the kid could not endure five more hours to Tokyo, according to chief flight attendant Doan Thi Kim Tho. After the Vietnam Airlines aircraft entered the apron at Noi Bai at 9:20 am the same day, an … [Read more...] about Japan-bound flight returns to Hanoi to save child with nosebleed

Vietnam’s Co To Island to ban single-use plastic from next month
Authorities on Co To Island off Quang Ninh Province, northern Vietnam announced a pilot program to ban visitors from bringing plastic products onto the island starting September in an attempt to spur sustainable tourism. Speaking to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper last week, Nguyen Viet Dung, chairman of the Co To District People’s Committee, said the trial to forbid visitors from bringing plastic bottles, plastic bags, and materials carrying a risk of environmental pollution will last for several months. Local authorities will then move toward the official implementation of this regulation since the island district's basic services are now completely prepared to accommodate the needs of tourists. “All of the island district's services and facilities are now fully accessible, but many tourists still bring single-use plastic products, putting a great deal of environmental strain on Co To,” Dung said. Medical facilities must not consider homosexuality as disease: Vietnam health ministry
The Ministry of Health recently requested local authorities to correct medical facilities that advertised the treatment of homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality. In a document sent to health departments of provinces and cities last week, the Ministry of Health said it had received information that some medical facilities and doctors claimed to be able to ‘cure homosexuality.’ The health ministry quoted the American Psychiatric Association and World Health Organization as affirming that homosexuality is not a disease, thus it cannot be cured, does not need to be cured, and cannot be changed. On May 17, 1990, WHO officially removed homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses. Homosexuality has been neither considered a disease nor included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) since 1994. WHO defines homosexuality as a sexual orientation in which people are attracted to other people of the same sex, stressing that it … [Read more...] about Medical facilities must not consider homosexuality as disease: Vietnam health ministry
