LÀO CAI — Local authorities in the northern province of Lào Cai have decided to develop tourism based on local ethnic cultures. “Local ethnic cultures are considered a key to encourage the province’s socio-economic development,” said Hà Văn Thắng, director of Lào Cai Province’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Department. According to the province’s plan to develop culture and sport in 2016-20, preserving and developing ethnic identity, improving people’s spirit and material lives is the key mission in order to establish new rural areas, smart urban areas and sustainably eradicate hunger. Lào Cai is now ranked among top areas of the country with the most number of cultural heritages. The province hosts 26 intangible cultural heritages approved by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Defense leaders join cultural festival in Thai Nguyen province

Vietnamese pianist wins prize in Italian music contest

I was awarded the second prize in the Oleggio International Piano Competition in Italy last night! I am very grateful to my family, teachers and friends for all their sincere support. Thank you very much!” Quang wrote on his Facebook page. The first edition of the competition attracted 80 contestants aged 18-37. "Sieu Sao Sieu Ngo" (Super Star Super Silly), "Trang Quynh" (Folk Scholar Quynh), "Hanh Phuc Cua Me" (The Happiness of a Mother), "Saigon Anh Yeu Em" (Saigon I love you), "Me Chong" (Mother-In-Law), "Sac Dep Ngan Can" (200-Pound Beauty), and "Ngoi Nha Buom Buom" (Butterfly House) are the seven new movies that Netflix has begun streaming from Sunday. This has brought the total number of Vietnamese movies it streams to 13. The seven new Vietnamese movies are from several genres, including adventure, romance, comedy and psychological thrillers. The diversity of genre partly reflects the current state of Vietnamese film industry, Netflix said. The movies will now have a reach of 190 countries and territories.
