At a press meeting in Binh Dinh on August 11, Pham Kim Dung, head of the beauty pageant’s organising board, said the Miss World 2021 will also join charitable activities in Quy Nhon. Karolina Bielawska said this is the first time she has set foot in Vietnam, and that she can feel the warm welcome for her from all people. Elephants enjoy a "buffet" of fruit and vegetables marked its World Elephant Day. World Elephant Day, observed on August 12, was created with the main objective of preserving and protecting this animal and seeking solutions to the problem of human-elephant conflict. A project on elephant preservation in Dak Lak, Dong Nai and Nghe An was approved by the Government in 2006. Recently, in Decision No. 413/QD-TTg dated March 31, 2022, the Prime Minister agreed with the project’s adjustment. Under the decision, the elephant conservation plan will be implemented until the end of 2025. Thailand’s central bank hikes rate for first time in four years

The BOT forecast that Thailand's economic growth this year will be 3.3%, up 0.1% from its previous projection. For 2023, it predicted growth of 4.2%, down 0.2%. The central bank also maintained its forecast that the annual inflation stays at 6.2%. Raising the interest rate signaled that the BOT was shifting its focus by tightening monetary policy in order to prevent spiraling inflation that could weigh on economic growth . The Super Garuda Shield 2022 is being organised on Indonesia’s Sumatra island and Riau island province near Singapore and Malaysia, with army, naval and air forces taking part. At least 4,000 Indonesian and US soldiers are joining the two week-long drill aimed to improve the capacity of responding to challenges, including issues related to security, disasters and humanitarian missions. Malaysia: Services revenue surges in Q2
Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia’s services revenue grew 25.2% year-on-year to 506.5 billion MYR (113.64 billion USD) in the second quarter of 2022, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM) said. According to the office, this was contributed by the wholesale and retail trade, food and beverages and accommodation segment which saw revenue went up 26.1% y-o-y to 409.3 billion MYR while the information and communication and transportation and storage segment revenue edged up 21.3% to 72.2 billion MYR. The health, education and arts, entertainment and recreation segment revenue grew 24.4% to 15.1 billion MYR and professional and real estate agent segment revenue went up 20% to 9.9 billion MYR. On a quarterly basis, the total revenue of the services sector grew 7.1% or 33.8 billion MYR. The total number of persons engaged in the sector rose 4.9% or 177,600 persons to 3.8 million persons as compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.
