UNESCO honors Vietnamese scientist as ‘rising talent’ in clean energy research
Van, 42, is currently a lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment. She received the award on Wednesday in Paris for her research in hydrogen fuel cell technology, which is considered an important area of focus for the future of clean energy. Around the world, there are 15 scientists honored as "International Rising Talents 2022". In the Asia-Pacific region, two other scientists from South Korea and Thailand earned titles. The Swiss - Vietnamese Medical Association (HELVIETMED) announced on Monday the list of seven Vietnamese scientists who had won the Alexandre Yersin Prize for outstanding research achievements in 2021. The first prize was given to Dr. Dang Quang Vinh and his associates in My Duc Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. The second prize went to Dr. Vuong Ngoc Lan and colleagues at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City; Dr. Hoang Khuong Duy and associates at Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City; Dr. Nguyen Lam Vuong and colleagues at Oxford University Clinical Research Unit in Ho Chi Minh City; Dr. Luong Quoc Chinh and colleagues at Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi; Dr. Nguyen Minh Nam and colleagues at the Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City. Military Women’s Sports Festival 2022 launched
Major General Nguyen Van Gau, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs, attended and chaired the event. The event saw the participation of nearly 1,000 female staff from affiliated units of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense. Accordingly, participants will compete in two events, volleyball and folk dance. Speaking at the launching ceremony, Major General Nguyen Van Gau affirmed that this is the first time the Board for Women Advancement has organized the Military Women’s Sports Festival. It creates a meaningful playground to improve troops’ physical strength, especially female officers. Mekong Delta should adopt digitisation in agriculture: experts

(Photo: VNA) Tra Vinh (VNA) - The embrace of digitisation is necessary to cope with saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta , experts have said. The delta, the country’s largest rice, fruit and seafood producer, is affected by saltwater intrusion from the sea up rivers every year in the dry season. Nguyen Hieu Trung, deputy rector of Can Tho University, said the delta has been affected by climate change in recent years, especially by drought and worsening saltwater intrusion which cause severe damage to agriculture. Speaking at a seminar in Tra Vinh Province earlier this week, he said it should take advantage of the fourth industrial revolution to create new value for agricultural production. Tourism diving to be suspended to protect coral reefs in Nha Trang Bay
Authorities in Khanh Hoa Province have planned to temporarily suspend tourism diving services in Nha Trang Bay in an attempt to protect the mass dying coral reefs in the area. Dying coral reefs in Nha Trang Bay The Standing Board of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee on June 20 held a meeting to look into the coral reef degradation in Nha Trang Bay following reports from local media. The meeting concluded that recent reports on reef degradation in the bay, especially at Hon Mun Marine Protected Area, were true. Explaining the causes of the situation, experts at the meeting mentioned some objective causes relating to impacts of climate change and two strong storms, Damrey in 2017 and Rai in 2021.
