Myanmar has two new protected public forest areas
Hanoi (VNA) - Myanmar has recently designated two new public forest areas in the western state of Chin's Paletwa Township and in the west-central region of Magway's Gangaw Township. According to Xinhua news agency, the Southeast Asian nation’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation announced they consist of the 4,988 acres Paletwa and the 8,400 acres Pawle-Watchipa forest in Gangaw. The designation of the protected areas aims at conserving watershed areas, mitigating climate change, protecting biodiversity, ensuring soil conservation and fulfilling the needs of local residents, the ministry said. A total of 11 protected forest areas have been designated across the country so far this year, according to Maung Maung Kyaw, a director of the Forest Department. Resolution on IPs and EZs management drafted

It said IPs and EZs account for 50 per cent of the country’s total export value. However, the ministry pointed to a number of problems related to the IPs and EZs, including their unsustainable development in different aspects. Living conditions of local communities where the zones are located have not seen remarkable improvements. In the draft resolution, the MPI suggested the building of a Law on IPs and EZs in 2022, and the issuance of a Prime Minister’s decision on the co-ordination mechanism among ministries, sectors and localities in managing IPs and EZs. Vietnam has 4th highest number of weekly Covid cases worldwide: WHO
Vietnam has been recording over 571,000 new Covid-19 cases a week on average, which is only behind South Korea (713,000 cases), the U.S. (760,000 cases) and Japan (1.4 million cases), according to a World Health Organization report. But the report did not mention Vietnam among countries with top Covid deaths. The WHO said the high numbers of recorded cases in Vietnam were partly because of extra data provided by certain localities, which were recorded since February. Over the past week, the northern port city of Hai Phong added another 402,830 cases to its tally and the northern province of Thai Nguyen added another 152,485 cases, the Ministry of Health said. Vietnam records around 2,000 new Covid-19 cases a day on average over the past week, the ministry added. Ten tonnes of Vietnamese longan exported to Australia

Photo congthuong.vn Nearly 10 tonnes of Vietnamese longan were exported to Melbourne, Australia, on Wednesday, according to the Viet Nam Trade Office in Australia. Previously, dozens of tonnes of the tropical fruit were transported to the country. The office said it has coordinated with importers in the host country to organise an event to introduce Vietnamese longan to local consumers and overseas Vietnamese there. Vietnamese longan products exported to Southern Australia and Western Australia states by Red Dragon Co Ltd and distributed by 4Waysfresh continues to be popular among local consumers. 4Waysfresh said it is waiting for Red Dragon to transport more longan to Australia. Cambodia to inspect Vietnamese noodles after EU warning
A consumer choosing instant noodle products at a supermarket. — VNA/VNS Photo Cambodian authorities will conduct an inspection and then prevent imports of Vietnamese instant noodles containing banned Ethylene Oxide (EO), according to Viet Nam's Trade Office in Cambodia. This move follows the European Union's warning to recall or return Vietnamese instant noodles including this dangerous substance, the office cited the Khmer Times as saying. According to Phan Oun, the Director General of the General Department of Consumer Protection, Competition and Anti-Fraud (KPR), if these types of noodles were detected in the Cambodian market, the KPR would take action to collect them. The director said the General Department of Customs and Excise would direct local customs agencies to classify these items as risky goods. Imported noodle products would be required to obtain a certificate stating that they were ethylene oxide-free, he added. Ministries slash fuel prices

E5 RON92 decreased by VND900 to VND23,720 per litre, whereas RON95 fell by VND940 to VND24,660 per litre. Diesel followed suit with a cut of VND1,000 to hit VND22,900 per litre. Kerosene went down by VND1,210 to VND23,320 per litre. Mazut remained unchanged, at VND16,540 per kilo. After the adjustment, the price of RON95 was VND8,210 less than that in late June. The same goes for RON92 and diesel with price gaps of VND7,580 and VND7,110 respectively. That means fuel prices have returned to the pre-Russia-Ukraine-conflict levels. The authorities also announced they set aside VND700 per litre from RON92, VND750 per litre from RON95, VND350 per litre from diesel, VND650 per litre from kerosene and VND716 per kilo from mazut to finance the Price Stabilisation Fund.
