Defender Doan Van Hau (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s U22 players will have no time to rest after their SEA Games victory as Korean coach Park Hang-seo on December 12 announced a list of 28 footballers to prepare for the final round of the AFC U23 Championship in January 2020. In the list, there are three goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 11 midfielders and four strikers. They include most of the SEA Games winners except for midfielders Do Hung Dung and Nguyen Trong Hoang who are over the age limit and defender Doan Van Hau who has returned to his Dutch club SC Heerenveen. Park also called midfielders Tran Dinh Trong and Nguyen Trong Dai who missed key tournaments due to injury, among other talented players. Vietnam scores first win at World Cup 2022 qualifiers
This is the first victory of Vietnam at the World Cup 2022’s second qualifying round. At the 28th minute, Nguyen Quang Hai put the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out for offside. However, he opened the score for Vietnam from a pass of captain Que Ngoc Hai just five minutes before the end of the first half’s official time. It is Vietnam’s first goal in the qualifiers. This is the largest batch of plated steel destined for the American country after the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific (CPTPP) came into effect. The group said that in the context of unpredictable price fluctuations of hot rolled steel exerting immense pressure on the steel industry in recent times, Hoa Sen has adopted various measures to develop both domestic and foreign markets. In the 2017-2018 fiscal year, Hoa Sen raked in 538 million USD from exports, up 27 percent from the previous fiscal year. Two Japanese navy vessels conduct friendly sweep of Da Nang
Carrying 180 officers, the ships berthed at Tien Sa Port on a four-day visit. The Japanese crew, led by navy captain Ikubo Seiji of Minesweeper Division III, is set to visit Da Nang’s Navy and Military High Command where officers of both countries will for the first time discuss and share minesweeping intel, Vietnam News Agency reported. As part of Japan’s Free and Open Indo-Pacific Strategy, the initiative aims to strengthen cooperation between its own and other navies across the Indian Ocean. Da Nang is the crew's 7th destination since embarking for the Phillippines, Bangladesh, Maldives, Bahrain, India, and Malaysia. Brunei to impose death by stoning for gay sex and adultery
Rights groups reacted in horror Wednesday to the latest hardline move from the resource-rich nation on Borneo, which practises a stricter brand of Islam than its neighbours Malaysia and Indonesia. The tiny sultanate will implement the harsh new penal code -- which also prescribes amputation of a hand and foot for theft -- next Wednesday. Homosexuality is already illegal in Brunei but it will now become a capital offence. The law only applies to Muslims. The new penalty for theft is amputation of the right hand for a first offence, and the left foot for a second offence. Amnesty International Wednesday urged Brunei to "immediately halt" implementing the new penalties. "To legalise such cruel and inhuman penalties is appalling of itself," Brunei researcher Rachel Chhoa-Howard said in a statement.
