The country’s leading telecom company, Viettel, is set to become a digital service provider this year, having lined up a number of products and services from the digital eco-system. “To create a digital society, Viettel must do two things: manufacture products and services of industry 4.0 standard and promote digitisation of the government,” Gen Le Dang Dung, chairman of Viettel Group, told Viet Nam News. The military-owned company is upgrading its 4G network to create infrastructure for the internet of things (IoT). Unhealthy competition spoils digital signature market, service providers say
The Hanoitimes - Digital signature service providers are trying every possible way to attract more clients, creating an unhealthy competition in an increasingly saturated market. The competition in the digital signature service market has become more fierce due to oversupply. More than 10 firms provide the service, while there are only 500,000 businesses that are potential clients. At least 348,000 businesses already use the service. Large information technology (IT) firms complained that many service providers “play tricks” to scramble for clients and improve their profits. Rampant piracy eats up Vietnam’s digital content market
Due to a lack of effective law enforcement, pirates now dominate Vietnam's digital content market, leaving almost no room for legal businesses to survive, let alone grow, according to remarks made at a recent conference held at the Ho Chi Minh University of Law. Dr. Le Thi Nam Giang, a lecturer at the school, said Vietnam has just five official e-book publishers, while hundreds of websites allow people to download e-books for free, Thoi Bao Kinh Te Saigon reported. The free downloads are labeled “sharing” but the sites’ owners earn money through ads, she said during the conference which received support from the Vietnam National Institute of Software and Digital Content Industry (NISCI).
