(Cinet) – The MOCST has promulgated Document No.1846/KH-BVHTTDL aiming at building a plan for composing “Development Project of Culture and Sports in 2011-2020 periods". The Project aims at complying with the approach of the Party and a policy of the State on development of sports and culture as well as building a basis for some localities to implement the structure about sports and culture. As planned, Basic Cultural Department will be a main sector for implementing the project as well as receiving a support from Department of Finance and General Department of Sports and Physical Training. The central city plans to launch a hibiscus wine development project on 62 hectares in Lien Chieu District. — VNS Photo The central city plans to launch a hibiscus wine development project on 62 hectares in Lien Chieu District. The city said the location, at the foot of the Hai Van Pass, will be built with total investment of VND300 billion (US$13.3 million) with the first stage operational in the second quarter of this year. The project was designed with a capacity of 10 million products including one million litres of hibiscus wine, and nine million litres of jam, energy drinks, tea and juice from hibiscus flowers each year. The project is expected to create 100 jobs for locals and contribute VND100 billion ($4.4 million) to the city’s budget each year. Fund rolls out sustainable development projects
by Hoang Nam HCM CITY (VNS)— The Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF) launched three projects this month to improve the sustainability of shrimp farming, develop responsible tourism and eco-tourism, and promote low-carbon development. To cost US$1.5 million, they are funded by the Danish International Development Agency and involve policy makers, the private sector, and civil society at every stage. The Greater Mekong region in which Viet Nam is situated along with Cambodia, Lao, and Thailand faces immense challenges as the countries try to balance economic development and poverty alleviation with environmental protection. Each of the WWF projects will support the development of frameworks for sustainable use and management of natural resources. The licence, granted to Compal Viet Nam Ltd, a subsidiary of the Taiwanese group Compal in 2007, was cancelled because its construction project was behind schedule. The project had a total registered capital of US$76.59 million and covered an area of 327ha.
