June 26, 2022 by tuoitrenews.vn Leave a Comment

A restaurant in Nha Trang, a coastal city in south-central Vietnam, has been fined over US$900 after being accused of charging customers $26 for three servings of beef pan-fried noodles. Nha Trang authorities have issued a fine of VND21 million ($902) to Ngoc Phu Seafood Restaurant for operating without a food safety and hygiene certificate, and for failing to clearly list dish prices, Phan Thanh Liem, deputy chairman of the city’s administration, said on Saturday. The fining followed a report from a team that inspected Ngoc Phu after a rip-off allegation was posted on social media against this restaurant, located on Tran Phu Street. The penalization served as a deterrent to other food caterers, helping keep the image of a safe, civilized, and friendly Nha Trang, the capital of Khanh Hoa Province in south-central Vietnam, the team said. Inspectors asked the eatery owner to promptly obtain the aforementioned certificate and list its dish prices clearly, without giving details. … [Read more...] about Nha Trang restaurant fined over $900 amid accusation of fleecing customers

Reporter: The adoption of VNLOS could be considered the localization of the UNCLOS in Vietnam. Could you please  elaborate more about the policy and principles of Vietnam when applying the above two legal documents to the demarcation of waters and dealing with arising issues at sea in reality, sir? Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh: First, There are two basic legal documents that we rely on when exploiting resources, protecting and operating in Vietnamese waters. They are UNCLOS internationally and VNLOS domestically. At present, there are a lot of conventions, international laws or legal documents. They are not issued by any courts, but built based on the commitments of coastal and island states. Due to the characteristics of UNCLOS, each country needs to devise its own law of the sea, but basically all of those laws must comply with and be based on UNCLOS. Generally, international conventions or laws at large, not only on the sea, are loose to some extents, but first … [Read more...] about Part 3: Upholding VNLOS is upholding international law
