Ninh Binh (VNA) - Ninh Binh, a tourist destination in Vietnam’s northern region and host of the National Tourism Year 2021, has released its plans for the annual programme, which feature myriad tourism, cultural, and sporting events. The opening ceremony, with the theme “Hoa Lu - Millennium-old Ancient Capital”, is set for April 20 at the local cultural and historical site of Hoa Lu ancient citadel. Key events to take place throughout the year include festivals at Bai Dinh Pagoda, Hoa Lu ancient citadel, and the Trang An Landscape Complex, a Tam Coc - Trang An tourism week, and a photo and art exhibition on Ninh Binh. Quang Tri targets 3,000ha of land freed from UXO each year
Quang Tri (VNA) - The central province of Quang Tri, which has the greatest amount of unexploded ordnance (UXO) in the country, is working to clear about 3,000ha of land each year to become the first Vietnamese locality to be safe from UXO accidents by 2025. The provincial People’s Committee has issued a plan for implementing an action programme for settling the consequences of UXO in 2021-2025. Beside land clearance, Quang Tri will look to raise 10 million USD annually from foreign non-governmental organisations to address UXO, complete all cluster bomb detection activities, and publicise areas identified as dangerous due to UXO. It plans to help 60,000 people access education on UXO and have 1,300-1,500 UXO victims and their families receive healthcare and livelihood support every year. Thailand looks to export 6 million tonnes of rice this year
Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand is planning to ship 6 million tonnes of rice abroad in 2021, higher than the figure of 5.27 million tonnes last year. Of the targeted volume, white rice will make up 2 million tonnes, followed by Thai hom mali rice at 1.5 million tonnes and parboiled rice at 1.5 million tonnes. Meanwhile, Pathum Thani fragrant rice, provincial fragrant rice, and sticky rice would account for the remainder, said Keerati Rushchano, Director-General of the Foreign Trade Department under the Ministry of Commerce. Local media quoted Keerati as saying that Thailand's rice exports still have to brave a spate of challenges, including a strong baht, container shortage or relatively higher prices than those of competitors. Vietnam boost sweet potato exports
In the first ten months of 2020, Japan imported 11,030 tonnes of sweet potatoes worth USD13.86m, a decrease of 6% and 15.2% respectively compared to the same period in 2019. The average import prices for potatoes in Japan was USD1,257 a tonne, a 9.7% decrease According to the International Trade Centre, the demand for sweet potatoes in Japan is still very high. China is the biggest seller to Japan with 5,300 tonnes of sweet potatoes in the first ten months of 2020, an increase of 11.9% on last year and accounted for 48.4% of Japan's total imported potato values. Vietnam is in second place with 3,500 tonnes of sweet potatoes, a decrease of 19.4% compared to the same period last year. Indonesia is in third place with 2,260 tonnes, a decrease of 16.5% on last year. However, Vietnam's sweet potatoes are at highest prices of USD2,047 a tonne while sweet potatoes from Indonesia and China were sold at USD1,461 and USD650 a tonne.
