The central city’s Department of Transport said the six new public bus routes will have new 40-seat buses connecting major mass commuter destinations including the Han Port, central bus station, Non Nuoc tourism site, March 29 Park, Hi-Tech Park and Vietnam-Korea College in the districts of Hai Chau, Ngu Hanh Son, Hoa Vang, Son Tra and Lien Chieu. Tickets cost 5,000 VND (0.2 USD) per trip, or 90,000 VND (4 USD) for a monthly package. The number of people returning to the city – mostly migrant workers and students – began to increase from yesterday, Feb 8. More than 100,000 people have been returning to the city every day after Tet, said Nguyen Ngoc Thua, director of HCM City's Mien Dong (Eastern) Bus Station. The return rush began on Monday, the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, but spiked sharply yesterday, he said. Thua said more than 2,000 buses carried around 40,000 passengers to the city from the northern, central and Central Highlands regions on Monday. Last Saturday more than 1,200 buses from these regions disgorged over 27,000 people at the Mien Dong Bus Station. Huynh Duc Tho, chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, convened a meeting with a delegation from the World Bank to discuss ways to relocate the railway station to Hoa Minh and Hoa Khanh Nam Wards in Lien Chieu District. The relocation period will be from 2017 to 2023, local officials said, adding that the plan will cost almost VND10 trillion (US$449 million). Officers in Ngu Hanh Son District led by Colonel Ngo Dinh Thu, deputy chief of the local police bureau, busted the unlawful organization, which specialized in making a stimulant nicknamed ‘co My,’ translated as ‘American weed.’ After several inspections in the locality, officers detected a group of strangers living in some tenanted houses showing suspicious signs, according to Col. Thu. Police then realized that the group was headed by Ho Si Dien, with the assistance of Nguyen Van Hoang Duy and Nguyen Van Quang, after nearly a month tracking the suspects.
