Illustrative image (Source: bangkokpost) Hanoi (VNA) – The Thai government has banned fishing in part of the Gulf of Thailand from June to September, to allow marine species to recover their numbers. The Thai media said on June 11 that fishing will be strictly regulated in the north of the gulf. The area is skirted by eight coastal provinces, including Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Chachoengsao and Chon Buri. The restrictions will take effect from June 15 to August 15 off the coasts of Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi, Samut Songkhram and Samut Sakhon, while the coasts of Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Chachoengsao and Chon Buri will be closed from August 1 to September 30. The Department of Fisheries has decided to enforce rules limiting fishing off these provinces again after similar measures last year resulted in an increase in marine species stocks. Mentally-ill family in need of help
A family in Ha Nam Province are in need of financial help to support three members who all have mental problems. Vu Thi Hue and her daughter Vu Thi Hue is the youngest child of a family with three siblings. Her mother died 11 years ago while all of her family have mental illnesses. Vu Van Diep, Hue's uncle said, "My brother is mentally ill and all of three his children also suffer from mental illnesses. The eldest daughter, Vu Thi Huong, 33, was introduced to work as a house helper in Hanoi but hasn't been able to send any money home for two years. The second son, Vu Tien Duc, 27, destroys furniture and wanders around when he has a fit." Hue recently became a single mother at the age of 24 and the family struggles to support daily meals alone with the new member. Their meals often consist of just white rice and vegetables. Program supporting students in university entrance exam kicked off in HCMC
The campaign is divided into two phases. The first phase starts from now and will last till June 27 with the participation of more than 8,000 students. Volunteers will help candidates at 12 exam venues during the 2018 national high school exam which is scheduled to take place from June 25 to 27. They also will help police maintain traffic order in an aim to limit congestion on the streets. Over 12,000 volunteers will participate in the second phase which will begin from August 1. In the 2-day long program, they will give supporting activities candidates and their family members at exam venues for university and college entrance exam, such as receiving candidates at bus stations, providing cheap and free accommodation, guiding the travel, providing information on the exams and procedures.
