The HCMC Delegation of the 14th and 15th National Assembly (NA) deputies visit and offer gifts to troops stationed on Con Dao Islands. The event marked the 47th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification Day (April 30) and the 132nd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19). Speaking at the event, Deputy Head of the delegation Van Thi Bach Tuyet expressed her joy at the development of Con Dao Island and tourism infrastructure, preservation and promotion of historical values, and improvement of the living standards of local people and soldiers on the island. U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam emphasizes importance of trust-building
The U.S. diplomat highly appeciated the good cooperation between the two countries, saying that the areas of cooperation between Vietnam and the U.S. have been broadened. Coming back to Vietnam after 15 years, the U.S. ambassador has seen remarable results in bilateral cooperation, trade and investment, cooperation in health, climate change, exchange of ideas of science and technology, in defense security. He assessed that the bilateral cooperation has grown impressively thanks to the efforts of both countries. Coordination promoted in sovereignty management and protection
Over the past time, the Coast Guard Region 4 Command has closely coordinated with the border guard commands of Kien Giang, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, and Ca Mau provinces, and Border Guard Flotillas 48 and 28 in information exchange to thoroughly grasp regional situations, so as to promptly deal with issues related to sovereignty and political security protection, as well as prevention and fight of crime and violations in accordance with the State’s laws. At the signing ceremony, the sides agreed to foster information sharing to update situations at sea and islands, strengthen the implementation of patrol, inspection, and control duties at sea, and promote prevention and fight against law violation and maritime crimes. Vietnam and Indonesia have expressed a desire to prevent further maritime spats. High-ranking officers of Vietnam and Indonesia navies have discussed measures to strengthen the cooperation as well as maritime boundaries between the two littoral countries.
