Techcombank is on track to be among the top ASEAN banks Techcombank’s rise within the Vietnamese banking industry was highlighted last year when it became the first non-state-owned bank to join Vietnam’s billion-dollar profit club. “Even in the very tough environment we are seeing, our employees have maintained a high quality and reliable service for our customers and this is helping us to deliver stellar performance year after year,” said Jens Lottner, CEO of Techcombank. Last year, the bank continued to reduce costs while focusing on building deposits in its current accounts and savings accounts (CASA), which Lottner described as a “stable and cheap” source of funding. Vietnam seeks US recognition of local Vietnamese communities as ethnic minority group
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked the Vietnamese Embassy in the U.S. to call on the U.S. government to recognize Vietnamese communities in the country as one of its ethnic minorities. PM Chinh visited the embassy in Washington, D.C. on Saturday as part of his trip to the U.S. to attend the U.S. - ASEAN Special Summit from May 11 to 17, at the invitation of U.S. President Joe Biden. The PM praised the embassy’s efforts in realizing the external policy of the Party and the state, promoting the image of the nation and people of Vietnam, and contributing to fostering the Vietnam – U.S. comprehensive partnership.
