A poor couple from Cai Lay District’s My Phuoc Tay Commune in the southern province of Tien Giang are calling for community support as the wife is struggling with cancer and the children could leave school due to the family’s financial difficulties. Tran Thi Phuong is suffering in the final stage of stomach cancer which has caused her great pains and oedema. Phuong and her daughter The couple’s eldest daughter, 16, has dropped out of school to take care of Phuong so that her husband Nguyen Van Viet can continue to go to work. Their second child Nguyen Trong Phuc, who is in Grade 8 has his school tuition fees donated by some charity groups. A one-year-old boy in Thanh Hoa Province has received over VND800 million to treat biliary atresia after his story was shared on Dantri Newspaper. One-year-old Huy Hoang suffers from biliary atresia One-year-old Huy Hoang from Hau Loc District is being treated at the Vietnam National Children's Hospital in Hanoi. The boy’s mother Lai Thi Thuy Linh said that right after being born, her son’s eyes and skin were yellow and he was diagnosed with biliary atresia. He now weighs only 7 kilos. VN peacekeepers deliver gifts to Bentiu refugee camps
Vietnamese peacekeeping soldiers and locals in South Sudan. — VNA/VNS Photo HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s level-two Field Hospitals No. 3 and 4 on Thursday delivered gifts to refugees at Protection of Civilians (POC) sites in South Sudan, one of many activities to support local people. The two hospitals have been on UN peacekeeping missions in the African country. At the event held in Bentiu, 50 packages of liquid soap and over 100 litres of orange juice were delivered to more than 50 families. In addition to the gifts, medical staff also provided locals with advice and instruction on maintaining hygiene and keeping diseases at bay, especially with the upcoming rainy season and the reemergence of anthrax in the country. Alling woman in Bac Giang in desperate need of support
A blind woman in the northern province of Bac Giang is calling for help as she faces kidney failure, but her family are too poor to cover the treatment. Trieu Thi Yen, 46, from Yen Dung District has been suffering from kidney failure for 14 years. She has to come to Bac Giang General Hospital for dialysis three times a week. Yen and her son Yen said that she was blind since birth. In 2005, she started working for a massage facility for the blind in Hai Duong Province. Then, three years later, she gave birth to her son Trieu Van Hung. When her son was three years old, she faced tiredness and oedema. She also lost breast milk. She was diagnosed with the final stages of kidney failure. She was totally shocked. Due to financial difficulties, she could not afford to buy powdered milk for her child.
