Hun Manet, who is also Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, expressed his delight that the two countries are celebrating the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic ties with various events, including a ceremony held in commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the historical journey made by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to overthrow the Pol Pot genocidal regime (June 20, 1977 – 2022). Cambodia will forever maintain and nurture its friendship with Vietnam and strengthen the bilateral partnership to develop amidst the complex global situation, the Cambodian official said. Localisation favoured by overseas banks, Photo Shinhan Bank Vietnam Shinhan Bank last week expanded its footprint in Vietnam by opening three new branches in the country’s two most populous cities, solidifying its position as the largest foreign lender currently active in the Southeast Asian nation. The bank said it has established a new branch in Hanoi, in addition to two branches in Ho Chi Minh City. This brings the total number of the bank’s offices in Vietnam to 46. “The new branches help us to maintain the largest sales network in Vietnam among all foreign banks operating there,” the bank said. “We expect that such a network will build a friendlier brand image across Vietnam, and in that regard, we will strive to offer better services.” In May, Shinhan Financial Group announced an agreement, worth roughly $90 million, to acquire a 10 per cent stake in Vietnam’s e-commerce platform Tiki. An AO-infected girl at school (Photo: VNA) Bac Lieu (VNA) – The Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin of the southern province of Bac Lieu handed over 55 gifts to local AO/dioxin victims during its gathering on August 10, on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of AO disaster in Vietnam (August 10). On the occasion, the provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to individuals who had made remarkable contribution to joint efforts to ease AO pain. Speaking at the event, Standing Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Le Thi Ai Nam asked the association to work closely with departments and agencies to raise public awareness of the AO/dioxin consequences on human and environment. In February, Vietnamese State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc paid a state visit to Singapore, with both nations vowing to continue cementing economic ties. How has this cooperation been implemented so far?
