The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a Monday statement the men got their passports back as their lawyers will represent them throughout the case. Spain has finally accepted Vietnam’s new-style passports after rejection due to their missing place-of-birth information. A new Vietnamese passport The Spanish Embassy in Vietnam on August 8 issued a notice saying that they would officially recognise Vietnam’s new-style passports after finalising mandatory technical consultations with competent central agencies in Spain. "From August 8, the embassy will accept applications for visas from holders of Vietnamese new passports," the embassy said in the notice. "However, since stating the information about the place of birth is a mandatory requirement to obtain a Schengen visa, applicants holding the new passports must submit a valid National Identity Card/ID to prove their place of birth." The embassy also noted that older passports would continue to be processed normally without being impacted by similar territorial restrictions. WB releases report ‘Educate to Grow’ on Vietnamese economic situation
According to the report, despite the challenging global economic environment, the outlook for the Vietnamese economy is still favorable according to the baseline forecast. Due to the impact of the low starting point, GDP is expected to grow by 7.5 percent in 2022 and 6.7 percent in 2023, when growth returns to pre-pandemic levels at 6.5-7 percent. Meanwhile, the average inflation is expected to fall around 3.8 percent in 2022, with the rising trend continuing in the second half of 2022. “The fuel price shock is expected to dissipate in 2023, but the second round of spillover effect continues to happen, and the forecasted GDP growth rate of 6.7 percent for the year will cause CPI to increase to 4 percent in 2023 before dropping to 3.3 percent in 2024,” the report said. All four Vietnamese students win gold at IChO 2022
The four students are Nguyen Viet Phong, a 12th grader from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted in Ho Chi Minh City; Tran Duc Minh, a 12th grader from Bien Hoa High School for the Gifted in Ha Nam province; Phan Xuan Hanh, a 12th grader from Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted; and Pham Nguyen Minh Tuan, a 11th grader from the High School for the Gifted of Natural Sciences under the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. This is the second time that all Vietnamese members have won the gold medal at the competition, after the first one in 2020.
