Vo Sy Nhan, general director of office space provider Onehub Saigon Bund, said though the park has been making efforts to help, his company’s project there has been slow to make a start. Industries hit hard by rising fuel prices
"If we do not operate regularly, we will lose our slots at bus stations, but the more we operate, the more we lose because of surging costs," Do Van Bang, CEO of Sao Viet’s parent company, Minh Thanh Phat, said. Sao Viet has reducing the number of trips to cut costs. Bang said the only way to break even is to increase fares by 15-20 percent, but with competition being intense, the time is not right for it. But the company would not be able to absorb the losses for long, he added. The company is one of many to lose due to the 39 percent rise in fuel prices since the beginning of this year. Nguyen Manh Hung, CEO of transport firm International Logistics, said fuel accounts for 40 percent of costs, and so the increases in their prices has affected the company. It is not easy to negotiate price hikes with customers, he said. "We are trying to cut all other expenses to survive the fuel price surge." Half of all fishing vessels in Vietnam have stopped going out to sea … [Read more...] about Industries hit hard by rising fuel prices

Customers at Vietcombank (VCB) branch in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum. The total operating income of 27 listed banks in the first quarter of 2022 increased by 8.2 per cent compared to the previous quarter.-VNA/VNS Photo In the past three months, banking shares witnessed sharp declines and were among the most negatively impacted on the stock market. Most banking stocks decreased by over 30 per cent and there was no single bank seeing positive growth. The decline was attributed to stricter control of credit flows, increasing bad debts mainly caused by real estate businesses, corporate bond inspection at banks and inflationary pressure which have affected investor sentiment. However, after a series of deep declines, many banking stocks are rebounding strongly in recent sessions. This brings hope to many investors in this industry group. In a newly released report, FiinGroup said that the total operating income of 27 listed banks in the first quarter of 2022 … [Read more...] about Banking shares plummet to attractive prices

Ring road plan to transform market - Illustrative photo (Source: VNA) The government has asked the National Assembly (NA) to consider and decide on the policy for investing in the ring roads to be located in the country’s two biggest cities. Tran The Anh, sales director of Thang Loi Group, said that the land fund in inner cities is increasingly exhausted and prices are high, with investors turning to suburban real estate. “There is a thirst for houses for those living and working in Ho Chi Minh City in particular,” The Anh said. “The shifting trend of investors and individual financiers is also creating a new vitality for the real estate market in the suburbs.” One of the issues discussed by NA delegates and experts is how to exploit the land fund around the two ring roads, which will soar in value.
